Following his clearance by the Ondo State House of Assembly, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is set to inaugurate his deputy, Dr. Okayide Owolabi Adelami.

The deputy governor-elect had promised not to betray Governor Aiyedatiwa over the confidence reposed in him.

Adelami, a retired Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, spoke after he was screened and confirmed by the House of Assembly.He said he would not disappoint the people of the state.

Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, earlier read a letter sent to the House by Governor Aiyedatiwa for the consideration of the nominee for the vacant position of deputy governor.

Speaking yesterday during plenary, Speaker Olamide Oladiji said the confirmation was sequel to the submission and consideration of a report by the House Selection Committee.

Deputy Speaker, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, who submitted the report, recommended the confirmation of the appointment of Adelami.

He noted that Adelami responded to all questions raised by the committee in a very eloquent and explicit order.

He said the Deputy Governor- nominee had an understanding of the position as well possessed the required academic qualifications, adding that he was physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the task.

Majority Leader Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominee be confirmed and was seconded by Felix Afe representing Akoko North West 2.

Speaker Oladiji pledged the Assembly’s support to the Executive to enable the people enjoy more democracy dividends.Adelami thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for nominating him.He promised not to betray his emotion and also promised to do everything at his disposal to function effectively.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has appointed Tayo Oluwatuyi as Secretary to the State Government (SSG). He was previously appointed SSG by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu after Ifedayo Abegunde resigned from the position.

Oluwatuyi, fondly called Tukana by admirers, was Ondo State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council.

Aiyedatiwa also appointed Mr. Abayomi Olasanya as the Chief of Protocol.
