President Bola Tinubu is expected to grace the 60th anniversary of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and maiden African Defence Industries Conference on August 14. The President, who will attend the event as the special guest of honour, will also deliver an address. The Director Information and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, announced this in a statement in Abuja. He said the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, would address reporters today to herald the take-off of the event. Ogubike said the DICON’s 60th anniversary celebration, with the theme: Future Frontiers in Africa’s Defence Technology, would showcase the company’s achievements and innovations, and strengthen relationships amongst its stakeholders. “The event will gather the largest defence industry stakeholders in Nigeria and Africa and will have over 3,000 both local and international participants. “Furthermore, the event will focus on investment opportunities, industrial partnerships and future developments in Africa’s defence industry. “It will also feature a distinguished faculty of knowledgeable speakers and resource persons from within and outside Africa.” The statement enjoined reputable companies/ organisations, defence industry stakeholders, government officials, military personnel, commercial exhibitors, and industry leaders to attend the event to benefit from its opportunities.
