IWD: Nigerian women pivotal tonation-building, says Tinubu

In commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), the President said his administration remained focused on providing investments in educating the girl-child.

He promised to always prioritise the welfare, protect their rights and advance their causes.

A statement in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, reads: “President Bola Tinubu celebrates the pivot of the nation, Nigerian women, on the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day.

“President Tinubu acknowledges the role of women in nation-building, emphasising that without a scintilla of doubt, Nigerian women are elemental to the development, growth, and greatness of the nation.

“The President affirms that in every discipline and field of human endeavour, the standout achievements of Nigerian women have become a testament to the resilience, strength, courage, and ingenuity of all women across the world, as well as a mark of their exceptional quality as emissaries of hope and possibilities.

“President Tinubu notes that the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day: Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress, fits well within his administration’s policy initiatives on educating and empowering women, not only through inclusion in governance, but also by ensuring that they remain relevant and unimpeachable voices in the development process across all sectors of the economy.”

Also, civil society organisations (CSOs) in Nigeria have hailed the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye; the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman; and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, for enhancing the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and national development.

They also hailed the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku; and the Director General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Hajia Aisha Dahir-Umar, on the commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).  for enhancing the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and national development.

A statement by the Chairperson of the Conference of Civil Societies, Adams Otakwu, hailed Adeyeye for her commitment to expanding the frontiers of NAFDAC nationally; Usman for her commitment to monitoring and evaluating structures across ministries to address key areas; and Kuku for dedication to safety and security of services and facilities across airports, efficient operation of air transport, professionalisation, capacity building, multi-stakeholders and civic engagement.

The statement lauded Uzoka-Anite’s efforts at driving inclusive growth and productivity of the nation’s economy, and Dahir–Umar, for her commitment to reforms in Nigeria’s Pension Industry.
