Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has nominated former aides of late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as his Commissioners and Special Advisers. Those who were nominated were said to have backed Aiyedatiwa during the political imbroglio that rocked the state before the death of Akeredolu. Those whose names were forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation were Mrs. Omowumi Isaac, Olukayode A. Ajulo, Razaq Obe, Emmanuel Igbasan, Akinwumi Sowore, and Oseni Oyeniyi. A press statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ebenezer Adeniyan, named the Special Adviser nominees to include Olugbenga Omole as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy; Mrs. Olamide Falana as Special Adviser on Gender Affairs and Alabi Johnson as Special Adviser on Energy. Ajulo, who is the only Commissioner nominee who did not serve under Akeredolu, was vocal in calling for Aiyedatiwa to be named Acting Governor before the eventual demise of Akeredolu. Obe and Sowore were the two Akeredolu Commissioners that did not sign the vote of confidence passed on late Akeredolu during the imbroglio. It was Obe, who as Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, raised the alarm and supposedly hired forensic experts to determine whether Akeredolu’s signature was being forged. He later informed the world that he could confirm that some persons were forging the signature of Akeredolu. Omole failed to win the APC primary for re-election to the House of Assembly where he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Information while Falana was an appointee of Akeredolu.
