The Director-General of Tinubu/Shettima Ambassador, a group that campaigned for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima during last year’s general election, Oladele Oyelude, has said Tax Reforms Bill would make the governors to strive to contribute more to the nation’s economy. Oyelude, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), during a media briefing at the weekend, noted that the North would not deny Tinubu of re-election over the development. He said the reforms would tackle challenges in the country’s economy, adding that it would not be in the best interest of the country for the National Assembly to throw out the Tax Reforms Bill. According to him, “there is no need for disillusion over the Tax Reforms Bill at the National Assembly. If the North feels the bill is not good enough, they should pass their resolution against it through their House of Representatives members and their senators. “We should not look at this bill in a way to cause segregation in the country, but look at other merits. The bill, when passed into law, will develop the country and make some governors sit tight to create wealth and woo investors, which will help their states and the country.” He hailed President Tinubu for not withdrawing the bill, urging the National Assembly to do justice to it by ensuring it followed due process. He said the National Assembly would look at the bill in a way that it would not lead to disintegration. “I believe the North won’t oppose Tinubu’s re-election because of the Tax Reforms Bill. The Vice-President is a northerner, so they can’t go against Tinubu based on the bill. The fate of the bill will be decided by the National Assembly.’’ Post navigation President Tinubu celebrates Hannatu Musawa at 50. President Tinubu swears in seven new ministers.
