The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, has expressed optimism about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued efforts to take Nigeria to greater heights. Gbajabiamila spoke on Saturday night when he joined other senior officials of the administration to receive the President at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on his arrival from a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom (UK). He said: “He’s back to continue from where he left off, in terms of putting policies in place and making sure things are done right, making sure we’re going in the right direction. “He’s the pilot of the plane and he’s working to get to a cruising level, which is precisely where we’re going. In a matter of time, Nigerians will begin to see the fruits of his labour and our labour. “Let’s all be expectant and hopeful, and we’ve been living the Renewed Hope, and Mr. President is back in Nigeria to continue the good work he’s doing.” Gbajabiamila described President Tinubu’s break as a working holiday, saying his return was for more work. “The kind of work he’s been doing in the past one and a half years requires some rest. He went to get some rest and he’s back now; he’s well rested, rejuvenated. “It was even just a working holiday anyway. So, he was working and resting at the same time. Now that he’s back in Nigeria, all hands are on deck, and he’s ready to go,” he said. Also, Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the weekend acknowledged the current challenges in the country but assured Nigerians that President Tinubu’s administration would leave behind a lasting legacy that would guarantee a better future. Akpabio, a law graduate of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), spoke at this year’s UNICAL ‘87 Law Class Re-Union, according to a statement by his media aide, Jackson Udom, yesterday in Abuja. Addressing his old classmates and senators who accompanied him as well as UNICAL management workers and students, he said: “The difficulties we are witnessing in our nation today were not caused by the present administration. These are as a result of years of maladministration. “Any country that does not have backbone infrastructure; you don’t have something to develop, you don’t save for the rainy day, when there is an economic malaise, such as we are witnessing in the world today, such a country is bound to be affected. “The good news is that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have hope today. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The things that we are trying to do now are for posterity, not for ourselves. “Rest assured that this administration will leave behind lasting legacies that will guarantee a better future,” he said. Also, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers Caretaker Committee has said President Tinubu’s achievements were grossly underreported. He said this while speaking at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) news forum. “President Tinubu’s achievements are not in the public domain because most of his ministers failed to do the needful and are not adding value to the administration and the country. “Gone are the days when they said ‘don’t blow your trumpet yourself’. These days, you have to blow it loud,” he said. Okocha noted that the wobbly economy President Tinubu inherited has made it difficult for his administration to move at a faster speed it planned before assuming office. He said the President’s ministers and other top government officials were not publicising his achievements enough for the world to appreciate. “The President’s achievements in less than two years are unsung. Until he has a broadcast, you won’t know what he has done. “Someone has to be responsible for telling Nigerians what the administration is doing in the various ministries.
