President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other Southwest governors are set to honour veteran actor, Chief Lere Paimo, 85, in Oyo State, at this year’s Yoruba National Day lecture to be held on Monday.

A statement by the President-General of the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, Awa Bamiji, said the event is also to mark his birthday.

A lecture: “National Unity and Agitation for Self-Determination: The way forward for Nigeria?” will be given by Sanwo-Olu.

The chair of the event is June 12 activist, Jumoke Ogunkeyede (South), with another activist, Shehu Sani (North) as co–chair.

Special guests of honour are President and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu. Past and present Southwest governors are special guests.

Also, Southwest senators, House of Representatives members, and Speakers of Southwest Houses of Assembly.

Fathers of the day are past and present leaders of Afenifere, Chief Tokunbo Ajasin, Bayo Adesanya, Muyiwa Ige, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), Tajudeen Olusi, General Alani Akinrinade (rtd), Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Dr Kunle Olajide and Wale Osun. 

Mothers of the day are past and present leaders of Afenifere Dr Tokunbo Awolowo – Dosumu, Dr Abimbola Samuel Ladoke Akintola, Prof Bolanle Awe,  Mrs Kehinde Ola – Oni, Mrs Taiwo Adesida and Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor.

Some monarchs expected are Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife; Oba Sikiru Adetona, Ogbagba II, Awujale of Ijebu; Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Olubadan; Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu I, Oluwo of Iwo; and others.
