Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, President Bola Tinubu has congratulated National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, on his birthday. The president, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, wished Senator Basiru many more years in good health and prosperity, also extending his good wishes to the Senator’s family. It reads: “President Bola Tinubu extends his warm congratulations to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, on his birthday. “Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru is a renowned legal expert and author. In 2019, he was elected to represent Osun Central in the APC. “In the Senate, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Diaspora, Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Societies, but was later appointed as the Senate Spokesperson and Chairman of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs. “The President prays for many more years in good health for the APC National Secretary and his family”, the statement said. A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said: “Fondly called SRJ by friends, associates and teeming supporters, our great party celebrates a consummate administrator, patriot, grassroots politician, a brilliant political tactician, and staunch progressive who has walked a long political promenade with his membership of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) which morphed into the Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and, eventually, the APC. “Our party has been bolstered by Senator Basiru’s role as National Secretary to which he has brought a wealth of experience from his illustrious record of public service as a legal luminary, federal lawmaker and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs in the Ninth Senate, among other memberships of eminent committees of the National Assembly. “On behalf of our National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), leaders and members of our great party, we wish our National Secretary a happy birthday anniversary.
